I'm new to this forum, so hello everybody. Let me know if it's more appropriate (or not at all) to ask some of the following questions somewhere else.
Bit of a background first. I'm running an online kids clothing store. I've launched it around May-June of 2008 (6 month ago), and have been seeing steady progress (physical store is 10+ years old). I'm savvy enough when it comes to SEO/SEM and advertising, but when there is not much budget, progress is always slow. I found out the hard way (I ran another store ~3 years ago) that buying links to bump up PR is not safe anymore (unless done right, not as it used to be few years back), and have been slowly recovering from g**gle's punishment (have been in good shape for few month now).
We're selling mostly European kids clothing, and inventory is always tricky business. There is a lot more demand then supply, and it seems that the only way to compete with aggressive advertisement (for example, $3+ CPC during holidays) that large stores are able to afford is basically is to rely on much smaller margins (by selling a lot more). It looks like the only way to do this with affiliates.
So my questions are:
1) How do I find affiliates?
2) I want to add affiliate program to my store, but instead of using one of the affiliate programs out there, I'd rather just do it myself. Instead of paying 3%-5% for that affiliate program (in fees), I'd rather pay more to my affiliates. Does this makes sense?
3) How much do 2-tear affiliates (affiliates only looking to bring in other affiliates, not sales themselves) are looking to make percentage-wise?

Hi dgrinberg, Welcome!
Your questions are more likely to be seen if you ask them in the general part of the forum, not here in the Introductions.
If you stick to one question per post, you're more likely to receive useful replies because someone reading your questions may know the answer to one question - or have an opinion on it - but not the other questions.
Also, if you write your subject lines carefully so that they clearly indicate the topic you're asking about, eg "How much 2-tier commission should I pay?" you're more likely to attract forum members who can help you. _________________ Allan Gardyne
