Hello,
I'm a total newb to affiliate programs and affiliate marketing, but I am an experienced web developer.
I have $0.00 dollars to invest, but I do have my own server with 200+ domains and pretty much unlimited resources to develop site, so I hope this will play in my favor.
With that said, does anyone have any advice on which programs/networks to join, how to promote etc..
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Rob, Perhaps you could team up with someone who has writing/marketing skills? I recall you said elsewhere that you don't enjoy that side of it. (We hired our own programmer a year ago and keep him busy on projects and improvements.)
I think it's really important to analyze your strengths and interests and build a business based on them.
For example, this weekend I'm experimenting with datafeeds. Because I'm a non-techie, I'm using a tool that hides all the techie stuff - I don't even see the raw datafeed file. The service is run by two guys who have complementary skills.
Datafeeds, mashups, directories, search engines, tools, services, membership sites... Wow! With your skills, you're spoilt for choice. For me, it was much easier when I was starting, I just considered all the non-techie options.
Think really carefully and see if you can choose something you're going to enjoy doing - something that gets your creative juices flowing and keeps you challenged and excited.
If it's also something that earns a residual revenue, say from a membership site or from promoting lifetime commissions programs, that would add a bit of icing to the cake.
You already have the resources. You have a webserver and some domain names
You need to quickly get to grips with the basics of affiliate marketing. A few useful articles can be read at affiliate marketing guide for beginners
It's just a bunch of articles that go over the basics. Not worth buying an ebook just to learn the basics in my mind
Next you need to read the getting started posts and i think the search engine optimizatin section of this forum. Loads of useful tips there
Wow, there are so many useful tips and guides here.
So you see, as long as you are willing to learn
and take action, it is possible for you to
build an online empire even if you start from
zero.

Hi Rob,
Because you have $0.00, I guess paying
someone to write content for you is not
an option, right?
That's why I suggest you do the following:
1. Make a list of your hobbies, interests
and things that you love talking and writing about.
2. Build a blog based on the most interesting
topic/niche for you.
3. Build a list of loyal subscribers using
an autoresponder service.
4. Recommend useful products or services to
your loyal subscribers - remember to recommend only
products that really HELP them.
5. Repeat with another domain
Yes, I know that this method takes time,
but remember, you want to BUILD a solid
business and I think with $0.00 in your hand,
this is the best option you have
Good luck! _________________ Farid Aziz
